Keramat atau makam merupakan antara peninggalan warisan Islam yang terdapat di Cape Town. Ianya terletak di kaki bukit Signal Hill hingga ke Qude Krael, Constantia di Tokai Road. Sebanyak 25 keramat di 23 lokasi terletak di bahagian barat Cape Town. Adalah dipercayai keramat-keramat tersebut merupakan tempat bersemadi nya tokoh-tokoh pendakwah Islam yang antara lainnya berasal dari Nusantara (Alam Melayu). Mereka ini merupakan tahanan perang kerana menentang penjajahan Belanda dan dibuang ke luar negara untuk menjalani hukuman. Terdapat unsur mitos dan lagenda mengenai kekeramatan makam-makam tersebut selain ianya menjadi bukti terhadap penempatan masyarakat Melayu terawal di Cape Town serta tersebarnya dakwah Islam di kalangan masyarakat yang berada di Cape Town.

MUSLIM SHRINES IN SOUTH AFRICA

Muslim Shrines are among the more significant Islamic heritage sites found in Cape Town. A total of 25 shrines at 23 sites are scatterred around the foot of Signal Hill and all the way to Qude Krael , Constantia along Tokai Road to the west of Cape Town.
It is believed that these shrines are burial grounds of leading Muslim missionaries who among others were from the Malay Archipelago. Many of them were arrested for resisting Dutch colonialism and were sent into exile here. Myths and legends attached to these shrines tell of supernatural and miraculous occurences at these sites. Tehy stand as evidences of the earliest Malay settelements in Cape Town as well as provide an insight into the provide an insight into the proagation of Islam here.
